In 2008 with the financial support of the European Commission the Jean Monnet Chair of European Law was established at the Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The Chair promotes teaching and research on issues of European integration in Georgia. The holder of the Jean Monnet Chair is Associate Professor of the Tbilisi State University Law Faculty Gaga Gabrichidze. 

The Chair diversifies its activities in numerous fields, such as development of new courses, arrangement of working meetings, conferences, public lectures. 

The Chair quarterly issues the publication titled Working papers on European Law. The publication contains articles, conference papers, notes of public lectures and other contributions that are devoted to the study of not only legal, but economic, political and other aspects of European integration and that are aimed at promoting better understanding of integration processes within the European Union (EU) and Georgia-EU relations’ context.                                               

The Chair actively cooperates with the Law Faculty and the Institute of European Studies of the Iv. Javakhsihvili Tbilisi State University, where the holder of Jean Monnet Chair has introduced several new courses in the area of European law and policy. 

The Chair systematically hosts roundtable meetings for academic staff, teaching courses in European integration field, for discussing challenges, as well as sharing experience and best practices of teaching. 

 In cooperation with different institutions and organizations the Chair has organized the series of conferences and public lectures.
